Health Plans that You Use

You want the best health plan that you can possibly get. You want to know how much your medical services will cost, and for you an office copay is a must.

As I've described in other articles, all commercial and government sponsored health plans have some form of cost sharing mechanism. This helps keep the premiums as low as possible. With copay plans, this simply means you will pay a smaller portion out of pocket when you use medical services. With other plans, you will pay a higher monthly premium in exchange for a low, predictable cost share.

These copay plans benefit folks who expect use routine medical services throughout the year. If you are a parent or if you need a prescription routinely filled, this may be the best plan for you.

Examples of plans with the lowest out-of-pocket cost share for routine services and prescription drugs include:

  • Anthem's BluePreferred
  • Humana's Portrait Share
  • UnitedOne (GoldenRule)'s Copay Select
  • Aetna's Managed Choice
  • Cigna's Open Access
  • Kaiser's Copay
  • Rocky Mountain Health's Solo View Copay

These plans typically offer a wide variety of preventative service and wellness benefits, or optional riders to add these services.

Please note that all carriers offer variations of the plans listed above. These variations modify the cost sharing for office copays, major medical and brand name prescription drugs, and will significantly lower your monthly premiums.
